Vision: Coordinated and coherent approach to advancing YPS globally that builds on experiences and lessons learned, including by young people themselves, and connects the realities that young peacebuilders face to policy discussions at UN and regional organisation headquarters and national capitals, and vice versa.
Audience: GCYPS Coalition Members and affiliates
The goal of the Global Coalition on Youth, Peace and Security is to serve as a resource hub on YPS and facilitate exchange and learning of experiences in advancing YPS between the grassroots, national, regional and international levels. In particular, to provide a platform for young people to contribute with their knowledge and experiences to global policy and decision making and to provide access to information for youth and civil society on global policy processes.
Objectives
- To facilitate greater exchange and learning between members of the Global Coalition as well as actors outside the GC, to strengthen coordinated efforts for YPS;
- To identify, serve as a resource hub for existing knowledge on youth, peace and security at the local, national, regional and global levels;
- To document and profile best practices in the field of youth, peace and security and facilitate exchange and learning, with a particular focus on ensuring that young people are able to raise their voices in global policy discussions and that young peacebuilders at the national and grassroots levels are informed of global policy discussions related to YPS;
- Identify gaps in the existing knowledge and encourage the creation of new and continued knowledge production on the practice of youth, peace and security (by GCYPS members and beyond).
